In one line. The Pitch Pizza Tracker is a deadpan, real-data dashboard that watches free, public signals around nine Chicago advertising-agency buildings for the late-night surge that hints at a new-business pitch in progress — the Pentagon-Pizza-Index idea, pointed at adland and measured in deep dish.

What it is
It’s a satirical OSINT art-and-commentary project. Every number on the board is real and live; the framing — an “Office of Creative Activity Monitoring” issuing a “Chicago Metro Pitch Condition” on a DEFCON-style star meter — is the joke. It’s a tongue-in-cheek peek inside advertising “war rooms” — the late nights where agencies crunch to hit new-business pitch deadlines, and crunch on pizza. The data underneath, though, is genuine and public.
How it works
Each weeknight evening (roughly 4–9 PM Central), a collector pulls free, public signals near each agency’s building and blends them into a 0–100 “pitch index” per building; the metro rolls up to a 1–4 condition shown on a Chicago-flag star meter.
- Late-night food — Google “Popular Times” for the pizzerias near each office (via SerpApi). A spot busier than its own usual, after dark, is the core pitch-crunch tell.
- Freelance hiring — public applicant-tracking boards (Greenhouse, Workday, iCIMS). A spike in freelance / contract creative roles is a classic pre-pitch ramp.
- Industry news — Google News. Per-agency pitch / account-review / AOR chatter.
- Bike departures — Divvy’s public bike-share feed. People leaving late, as corroboration.
Honest by design
No fabricated data, ever. If a signal has no live reading, the board shows “no data” — never a guess — and the index uses only the signals actually present. Company and agency names are used nominatively, for commentary; HoneyWired is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or surveilling any company or person, and any named party can be removed from the monitor at their request, no questions asked. Why we’re really watching
The bit is a joke about advertising. Real “war rooms” aren’t. If the tracker got your attention, point a little of it somewhere it counts: World Central Kitchen is on the actual front lines, serving fresh meals to families caught in the middle of disasters. A pizza here is a punchline; a meal there is a lifeline.
